I have the honour to transmit for
the signification of His Majesty's pleasure the following
Ordinance entitled:-
An Ordinance to amend the Chinese Extradition
Ordinance, 1889.

This Bill was introduced for the
reasons explained in the report of the Attorney-General.
In consequence of the ruling of the Full Court, I had
already requested His Majesty's Minister at Peking to
obtain the undertaking required from the Central Government
but Sir John Jordan expressed to me verbally his apprehen-
-sions that it would be difficult to obtain what was re-
-quired, since the Wai Wu Pu would be unable to understand
why it was sought to alter a procedure which had been in
